Some of the most unique wild animal sanctuaries on the planet, the Inti Wara Yassi refuges in Bolivia have been striving to combine wild animal welfare and work with vulnerable children over the past 10 years. Animals confiscated and rescued from circuses and the pet trade are constantly arriving, so there is always need for more constructions to house them, as well as care and attention for those being prepared for release into the wild. Walk a puma, teach an eagle to fly again, introduce a monkey back into the wild and become part the most hands on wildlife project you are ever likely to encounter.

On the road, and the river, and the mountainside...

Your reward after the animal sanctuary project - but don't expect an easy ride! Trekking though five different climate and altitude zones, rafting down white water rapids, tearing through sand dunes on buggies, climbing glacial peaks, visiting cultures dating back hundreds and even thousands of years. An assault on the senses, with no two expeditions exactly the same, this gap year trip is a mixture of on and off the tourist trail. trip summary

Two different spectacular itineraries - one with a 3 week Spanish course followed by 4 weeks working at our project in the Amazon, then finishing off with a mind blowing expedition through Peru and Bolivia; the other itinerary is 6 weeks on the project followed by our 6 week expedition. Team sizes from 10 to 16.
