TOTAL Cost £3850
£700 - DONATED TO THE PROJECT - 4 weeks
This is a significant amount compared to many other operators and ensures that our projects survive in the long-term, after you have returned home. This can broken down into the following:
Short term support:
- Project materials for all project activities
- Local wages for support staff to help volunteers
- All on the ground transport
- Food
- Accommodation
Medium term support:
- Continuation of sustainable agriculture activities once you've gone home
- Maintenance and upkeep of the Project over the next year i.e. funds to pay for local materials to continue the Project year round
Long term commitment:
- Wages & training for local staff
- Donation directly to ABRA our local Project Partners, to develop further Projects in the area

- Tree Climbing

- visit to local waterfalls
- Weekend transport
- Overnight in Manaus, including food and
£1,640 - EXPEDITION PHASE - 6 weeks
- All day trips and activities including 4-day surf course, canoe and waterfall excursion, trekking, hang gliding, photographic safari, football match at the Maracana, Rio city tour, Samba dancing on Copacabana Beach.
- National Park entrance fees and local guides
- All local transport (not including flights)
- End of Expedition party
- Transport from Project Phase to Expedition Phase
- Accommodation for 42 nights - hostels, camping, etc
- All 126 meals
£1260 - QUEST OVERSEAS
- Training weekend (activities, food, accommodation)
- Quest Overseas T-shirt and brochure
- Quest Overseas Doctor for 24hr medical advice and support
- Project/Expedition Leader wages, visas, international flight and insurance
- Project/Expedition Assistant wages, visas, international flight and insurance
- Expedition equipment
- Back-up medical support, communications, safety equipment and emergency contingency planning
- Year round planning and development of project - including assessing aims and objectives for the project in the short, medium and long term
- Project preparation with on-ground project assessment and risk assessment by South America Manager
- Project write up, evaluation, budget analysis and submission of papers
- End of project debrief and student assessments
- Liasing with flight agents and insurance companies
- Quest Overseas UK staff costs
- Selection costs associated with volunteers (interview/open afternoon, support when signing up)
- Selection costs associated with Project/Expedition Leader
- Marketing and general administration costs
- Office rental and costs
N.B. An emergency reserve fund is kept aside to cover costs incurred in any unforeseen circumstances, which would not be covered by personal travel insurance. Where this is not utilised, the funds are fed back into the company to develop future Expeditions
