Galapagos sea lions on the move
Posted on 08/02/10 10:27:25

For the first time ever, a colony of sea lions unique to the Galapagos islands has decided to move house. They have swum over a thousand miles to the Peruvian coastal port of Piura, and have set up home there. It is believed this has only recently become possible because of climate change. The average water temperature in the Galapagos is 25C, while on the Peruvian coast it used to be 17C, but has risen to 23C over the past 10 years.
the spare room
Everyone needs a spare room, that space where you can pile all that stuff you dare not throw away but you're really not sure where it should go. It's always fun to have a nose around it though, you find things you completely forgot you'd kept hold of.
