Spend 6 weeks helping to create Malawi's first Wildlife Sanctuary, gain hands-on experience with the animals in the centre, work with local guides to help construct enclosures, run environmental education projects and after your hard work head off on our 6 week Southern Africa Explorer through five different countries.
Project Phase 6 weeks: Take part in this exciting project and gain amazing hands-on experience working with African animals. You will help injured and rescued monkeys, baboons, antelope, hyaena, reptiles and leopard and be involved in a programme that will have them relocated back to the wild. You will also be involved in constructing rehabilitation areas to ensure the survival and release of these threatened african animals into the wild, such as Becky, the orphaned Baboon:
Becky's Story
Becky was found for sale on the Salima roadside, she was just one week old, her mother having been killed. Although not the prettiest of babies Becky was certainly adorable and an instant hit; she had her adoptive carer running around in circles after her. Becky was also an instant hit with Jack’s troop on arriving at the Centre and was integrated very quickly. She is now almost a year old and is set to be joined by four other young baboons which recently arrived at the Centre. They are currently sitting in quarantine. Together they will be returned to the wild in 2008
Explorer Phase 6 weeks: Our Southern Africa Explorer Expedition - six weeks of activities through five different countries. Trekking in Swaziland, Scuba Diving in Mozambique, bridge swinging, canyoning, caving and abseiling in South Africa, 4 x 4 safaris and dug out canoe safaris in Botswana and bungi jumping off Victoria Falls in Zambia. All activities included.
You can join our Malawi Wildlife Project or Southern Africa Explorer as individual trips over the Summer months. Click here for more details.
