We have spent the last 10 days in Huaraz, Huanchaco, Lima and Cusco. We left Huaraz after bridge jumping and took a night bus to Huanchaco, which is a pretty Northern town on the coast of Peru. There we learnt how to surf and enjoyed hanging out on the beach. That next morning we took a bus to Lima where we arrived in the evening. Some of our group went to the movies, others went bowling and two searched out an incredible Japanese restaurant where they enjoyed a marvelous culinary experience. Later some of the group went out and some headed in to sleep as we had an early flight the next morning to Cusco.
After a 3AM wake up call we headed to the airport and flew to Cusco – smooth sailing the whole way. Once arrived in Cusco we spent a couple days before we embarked on our white water rafting voyage, which lasted two days and included tackling a grade 4 rapid. Afterward, we began the Inka Trail!!! We hiked for three days and visited many interesting ruins along the way. On the fourth day, after god created the light of the day and the night, we finally arrived at a fog covered Machu Picchu, which soon disappeared in a timely manner as we sang happy birthday to Tyler (19 years of age) and Mette (20 whole years of age) over a few bottles of bubbly. We toured Machu Picchu for a few hours with our lovely guide Gato. Then we descended down to the nearby town of Aguas Calientes, where we enjoyed lunch, dinner and a thermal bath session. After dinner, we took a combination of train and bus to make our way back to Cusco, where we arrived at 2 in the morning.
The next morning (our last of the trip), the more fortunate of us had an entire free day to enjoy the lovely city of Cusco, the less copied pictures from all the cameras of the group and wrote this blog, which is currently enthralling you. Tonight, our final night of the trip, we are going to enjoy a very lovely dinner and then grace some of nightclubs of Cusco with our presence.
