Quest News

BBC 2 at 8pm today, Wednesday 11th November.

The show will document Dr Marshell’s findings after studying mantas and stingrays off Tofo beach in Mozambique.  Mantas are thought to have evolved from stingrays and are some of the largest fish in the ocean.  New research has discovered that they migrate huge distances.

They are commonly found in the reefs around Tofo and this years Tanzania GAP team could be lucky enough to dive with these magnificent beasts that can grow up to 7m!

Also in the programme will be rare footage of the small eyed stingray.  Until it was recently spotted in these same waters the small eyed sting ray was thought to be extinct.  The programme makes up part of the BBC’s Natural World documentary series.
